Your First Visit To Our Princeton Practice
On your first visit to our Princeton chiropractic office one of the first things you will notice is that there is plenty of parking in the well lit parking lot. When you enter the office you will immediately be greeted by our professional and friendly staff and if you have not filled out your paperwork we will get you started with it. You will be asked to provide us with some basic information about you and your health concerns. Rest assured your information will be kept confidential and private. In order to process your health insurance, we will need your health insurance card and driver’s license.
Once this basic information is collected, you will be escorted to our consultation and exam room. Here you will meet with the doctor and discuss your health concerns at length. We pride ourselves on doing the most detailed consultations to determine the true cause of your condition.
It is during this time that the doctor will decide if your case may benefit from Chiropractic. The doctor will discuss each of your health concerns with you at length.
- We will talk about when it started, how long it has been going on and how often you feel it.
- We will discuss your family history to see if this type of problem runs in the family.
- We will explore any injuries or traumas that you may have received over the years that may have contributed to your current problem.
- We are also looking for information on other remedies you have tried to correct the problem that did not work permanently.
- We will then discuss how your current health concerns affect your work, lifestyle, hobbies and sleep.
At this point if we feel that Chiropractic may be able to help you we will explain how Chiropractic works and what we will be looking for during our examination.
We will commence with your examination. The doctor will start with a spinal exam looking for spinal dysfunction and muscular tightness. If we find these then your condition may respond to chiropractic care and we will then complete your examination to see how complicated your problem is. We will check you for muscular trigger points, your range of motion, muscle weakness, muscle spasm and posture. We also may do some orthopedic and neurological tests if they are indicated.
Once all these procedures are performed the doctor will make a determination as to whether x-rays will be needed before treatment is started. If they are you will be referred for an x-ray evaluation to further evaluate the extent of your problem. If it is decided that X-rays are not needed then you may receive your first treatment. Afterward when you return to reception your next visit will be scheduled.
This first visit typically takes 45 – 60 minutes depending on the severity and complexity of your particular problem.
